Katie Blair successfully took over the role of Miss Teen USA from Miss Ohio Allie LaForce during Miss Teen USA 2006. Representing Montana, Katie impressed judges by completing the swimsuit part of the pageant without hitch, wearing a strapless white ruffled gown and answering her question to describe what integrity meant to her succinctly. Blair was the first entrant from Montana to win the Miss Teen USA pageant title. As part of her role as Miss Teen USA 2006, Katie attended various events and photoshoots and drew awareness to specific charities such as the Best Buddies program. In late 2006 Katie found herself facing a degree of negative publicity as she was implicated in the media controversy surrounding Tara Conner who admitted to substance abuse after media reports of excessive partying. The focus remained on Tara Conner during the fallout though and Katie had no action taken against her. Due to the speculate Mothers Against Drunk Driving, a campaign group set founded by mothers who lost their children due to drunk drivers, severed their relationship with Miss Teen USA until the end of Katie's reign. |
